Despite expectations to gather Rs. 50 billion in the 2024-25 fiscal year, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) reports no collections from the 85,000 traders registered under the Tajir Dost Scheme. These traders were due to submit their first installment by August 15, 2024.
A representative from the trader community mentioned that the scheme’s current priority is to expand registration to more small business owners across the nation. In response, the FBR has initiated contact with traders to enforce tax regulations and has announced the imminent release of a simplified income tax return form in Urdu for registered traders.
