Government Announces 3-Day Holiday for Eid-ul-Adha Celebrations

ISLAMABAD (SP News Desk) – The federal government has officially declared a three-day holiday period for the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha festival, according to reports from the Prime Minister’s Secretariat. The holidays will span from June 17 to June 19, 2024.

Sources indicate that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved the proposal put forth by the Cabinet Division, facilitating the observance of this significant Islamic festival across the nation.

Eid-ul-Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s unwavering obedience to God’s command to sacrifice his son. During this occasion, Muslims worldwide partake in the traditional sacrificing of animals, with the meat being distributed among family, friends, and those in need.

The sighting of the Zil Hajj moon on June 7 has set the date for Eid-ul-Adha in Pakistan on June 17. The three-day holiday period will allow Muslims to fully engage in the religious rituals and celebrations associated with the festival.

The act of sacrificing animals, a symbolic reenactment of Prophet Ibrahim’s act of devotion, continues throughout the three days of Eid-ul-Adha. This remarkable occasion holds immense spiritual significance for Muslims worldwide.
