Pakistan’s telecommunications sector witnessed significant growth as 3G/4G users reached 134.8 million by the end of June 2024, according to the latest report from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). The data reveals a notable increase in cellular subscribers, rising from 192.32 million in May to 192.53 million in June.
The report indicates that Next Generation Mobile Service (NGMS) penetration in Pakistan climbed from 55.07% to 55.61% during this period. Cellular teledensity, which measures the number of connections per hundred individuals, held steady at 79%.

Major telecom operators reported varying trends in their user bases:
Jazz:
- 4G users: Increased from 46.547 million to 47.295 million
- 3G users: Decreased from 3.145 million to 3.041 million
Zong:
- 4G users: Grew from 36.220 million to 36.665 million
- 3G users: Declined from 2.026 million to 1.983 million
Telenor:
- 4G users: Rose from 24.419 million to 24.680 million
- 3G users: Fell from 1.700 million to 1.588 million
Ufone:
- 4G users: Expanded from 15.306 million to 15.652 million
- 3G users: Decreased from 2.278 million to 2.238 million
The figures show a clear trend of users migrating from 3G to 4G services across all major providers, reflecting the ongoing technological shift in Pakistan’s mobile communications landscape.
