YouTube has begun a limited rollout of its new Community Notes feature, a tool designed to tackle misinformation on the platform. The feature allows select users to add brief, clarifying notes or corrections to specific parts of video content.
The Community Notes initiative, first announced in June, aims to enhance the accuracy and comprehension of video content in the aftermath of the US presidential election.
While an official launch date remains unconfirmed, YouTube has created a dedicated section in its Help database to guide users on writing and submitting Community Notes.

The pilot program is currently restricted to English-speaking mobile users in the United States. Participants are being chosen through email invitations or notifications in their Creator Studio accounts. YouTube is using this initial phase to collect feedback on the feature’s effectiveness and develop criteria for rating notes as “helpful,” “somewhat helpful,” or “unhelpful” before a wider release.
In other news, YouTube Shorts has introduced six new features inspired by TikTok:
- An “Add Yours” sticker for interactive content
- Automatic caption creation
- Text narration in four voices
- Interactive games within Shorts
- Auto Layout feature for converting longer videos into Shorts
- The ability to create remix understandings of existing remixed videos on YouTube
These updates reflect YouTube’s ongoing efforts to enhance user engagement and combat misinformation on its platform.
