Report Highlights Non-Compliance in 90% of KP Housing Societies

A report by the Local Government Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa exposes that 90% of the province’s housing societies are either illegal or unregistered, with a mere 10% being officially recognized. The findings specify that 60% of the societies are illegally operating, while 30% lack registration, leaving only 80 legally compliant societies in the region.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is home to 822 housing societies, with their distribution as follows: 254 in Dera Ismail Khan Division, 247 in Peshawar Division, 77 in Malakand, 74 in Hazara, 73 in Bannu, 67 in Mardan, and 30 in Kohat Division.

The department has made the list of these non-compliant societies available on its website and advises the public to be vigilant when investing in housing ventures to prevent fraud.
