RDA Cracks Down on Illegal Housing Schemes Across Rawalpindi

The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has intensified action against unauthorized housing projects on orders from Director General Muhammad Saif Anwar Jappa.

An RDA spokesperson revealed that multiple people including promoters and sponsors have been issued notices regarding eleven illegal land subdivisions and two unapproved housing societies. These include Ittehad Town, Aziz Builders & Developers Pvt Ltd, and schemes in Mouza Kallar Budhal, Mankiyala, Louni Kallar, Bagga Sheikhan, Chak Bhatta, and other areas.

The DG has directed the Director MP&TE to take legal action against deceptive marketing/advertising and file formal complaints against operators of such illegal societies, the spokesperson added.

Sponsors have also been warned to immediately stop sale activities for their illegal ventures and obtain required No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from RDA to regularize approved schemes. Strict penal action would be taken against violators, the spokesperson warned.

Additionally, marketing agency M/s Reliable Marketing has been issued a notice to stop promoting nine unauthorized projects, including New Metro City, Al-Muqeet City, Sarwar Shaheed Garden etc through an advertising campaign.

Residents have been advised to personally verify the approved status of any housing project on RDA’s website before investing. The authorities said illegal advertising tricks people into buying into fraudulent schemes. Hence, RDA’s planning wing has approached FIA’s cyber crime unit to legally bar such misleading promotions.
