Power Tariff Cut: Consumers to See Lower Electricity Bills in October

ISLAMABAD – The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) approved a reduction of 86 paisa per unit in electricity rates for August under the monthly fuel cost adjustment (FCA) mechanism during its Thursday session.

According to the official notification, the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) had sought a decrease of 57 paisa per unit for the period. NEPRA held a public hearing on September 26 to consider the CPPA petition.

The regulatory body noted that the FCA for August will be 49 paisa lower compared to July, when a reduction of 37 paisa per unit was implemented.

Consumers will see this reduction reflected in their October electricity bills. Those who have already received their bills will get the adjusted amount in November.

Key Points:

  • The relief applies to all consumers except:
    • Lifeline consumers
    • Prepayment meters
    • Electric vehicle charging stations
  • K-Electric consumers will not benefit from this reduction

This tariff adjustment aims to provide some financial relief to electricity consumers across the country through the monthly FCA mechanism.
