Pakistan Wins ‘Best In-Show’ Award at New York Travel & Adventure Expo

NEW YORK, Jan 29: Pakistan’s pavilion at the renowned ‘Travel and Adventure Show’ in New York emerged victorious, winning the ‘Best In-Show – International Tourism Development’ title amidst nearly 190 participating countries.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US, Masood Khan, inaugurated the pavilion showcasing Pakistan’s tourism potential and remarked, “We are proud that our Pakistan Pavilion won the Best-in-Show International Travel and Adventure Show.”

The January 27-28 event saw over 550 of the world’s top vacation spots, tour operators, cruise lines and travel agencies participate.

The Pakistan Pavilion was set up jointly by the Consulate General of Pakistan in New York, Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) and private businesses.

Present were Consul General of Pakistan in New York, Aamer Ahmed Atozai, Minister for Tourism Gilgit Baltistan Ghulam Muhammad and former Minister for Tourism Raja Nasir Ali Khan.

A 60-member delegation including representatives from PTDC, TDAP and 24 private sector companies represented Pakistan. Live demonstrations of traditional lacquer woodwork and doll making by Pakistani artists were part of the Travel & Adventure Show, showcasing the country’s diverse tourism potential.

Ambassador Masood Khan told media, “Travel and Adventure Show is a great exhibition with many countries and tour operators present here.”

He said the world has a keen interest in Pakistan’s tourism market especially adventure and eco-tourism. “Pakistan has tremendous untapped tourism potential and the most stunning, unexplored tourist destinations,” he added.

The Travel & Adventure Show has been running for over 19 years with 118 completed events, connecting thousands of travel media, over 2.5 million travelers and over 15,000 distinct travel advisors with over 4,500 exhibiting companies worldwide, influencing over $6 billion in travel bookings.

Ambassador Masood invited attendees to visit Pakistan and witness the timeless beauty of historic cities and breathtaking natural landscapes from snow-capped peaks to pristine coastal areas.

Minister for Tourism Ghulam Muhammad lauded organizers for ensuring participation from all regions of Pakistan at the Pavilion in his message on the occasion.

Consul General Atozai addressed media and said Pakistan’s participation would help attract more tourists. Recently, UNWTO named Pakistan an emerging tourism destination citing 115% increase in foreign visitor arrivals, estimating $1.3 billion in foreign exchange earnings by end of 2023.

CEO and Founder of Travel and Adventure Show John Golicz thanked the remarkable contingent of tour operators and experts from Pakistan while announcing the Best In-show award for Pakistan in international tourism promotion.

The annual New York Vacation & Adventure Show provides an excellent platform for networking with travelers from top domestic and international vacation spots, tour operators, cruise lines and travel suppliers.

The visiting Pakistani delegation was later honored at a dinner hosted by Pakistan’s Consul General in New York, Aamer Ahmed Atozai. Attendees included Ambassador Masood Khan, GB Tourism Minister Ghulam Muhammad, Planning Minister Raja Nasir and delegation members.

Ambassador Masood stressed on showcasing Pakistan’s tourism potential, saying preparations are underway to provide requisite infrastructure and facilities to visitors.
