Pakistan Leads in Global Tech Adoption: Survey Reveals

According to a recent study by Ipsos, Pakistan has secured the top spot in global technology adoption, illustrating a nationwide confidence in technology’s power to solve future challenges.

Unwavering Confidence in Technological Advancements

The “Ipsos Global Trends” survey, which was released in Pakistan last Friday, highlights that an overwhelming 89% of Pakistanis believe that advanced technology is crucial for addressing future issues. In contrast, a mere 9% hold a dissenting view. Simon Atkinson, Ipsos Global Chief Knowledge Officer, emphasized the unique outlook of Pakistanis towards technology, noting, “Unlike the common fear in many parts of the world that technology might lead to job losses, Pakistanis are optimistic about technology creating more job opportunities.”

Pakistan’s Stance on Artificial Intelligence and Electric Vehicles

The research, which involved 50,000 participants from 50 countries representing 90% of the world’s GDP and 75% of its population, shows Pakistan as a frontrunner in several areas. Notably, the country ranks fifth worldwide in the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI), with 69% of respondents optimistic about AI’s role in job creation.

Furthermore, the shift towards sustainable transport is prominent, with 84% of Pakistanis favoring electric vehicles (EVs) over traditional oil-based vehicles. This preference indicates a significant move towards environmental sustainability and modern transportation solutions.

Cultural Values and Aspirations

The findings, presented at the HBL Tower in Karachi in collaboration with Brain Child Communications and Habib Bank Limited, also shed light on the societal values prevalent in Pakistan. The survey underscored the importance of traditional family structures, religious commitments, and material aspirations among the populace.

Pakistanis not only prioritize physical health and innovative transport solutions like EVs but also value high-quality customer service, reflecting their broader aspirations and commitment to societal advancement.

Implications for Industry Growth

The event also featured insights from Farhan Khan, CEO of Brain Child Communications, and Abdul Sattar Babar, CEO of Ipsos Pakistan. They discussed how the survey’s results could guide significant growth in sectors such as Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCGs), media, and banking. By leveraging technology, social media, and youth-focused initiatives, these industries can align more closely with the evolving preferences and values of the Pakistani market.

In conclusion, Pakistan’s leading position in global tech adoption not only reflects its readiness to embrace technological advancements but also its proactive approach to reshaping its economic and social landscapes for a brighter, more sustainable future.
