Lahore Corporation Launches Crackdown on Illegal Constructions

LAHORE – The Lahore Metropolitan Corporation (LMC) has rolled out an action plan to curb unauthorized construction across the city, according to reports on 28 January.

As part of the initiative, the LMC will overhaul the existing manual system of maintaining property maps and switch to a new online portal developed in coordination with the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB).

The Municipal Secretary, Dr Ahmad Javaid Qazi has tasked the LMC to execute this digitization drive and appointed a PITB representative as Municipal Chief Information Liaison (MCIL) to steer the transition.

Additionally, planning department officials have completed initial training on using the new portal. The initiative aims to streamline the approval process from district to zone level by shifting from paper-based to electronic map submissions.
