Islamabad, January 18 – The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has made significant progress in its investigation into the alleged illegal allotment of plots by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) in Islamabad.
The FIA has officially registered a case against 12 people, including officials from the CDA’s Land Department, after carefully building its case. According to FIA sources, Assistant Director of CDA Aftab Saleem, Patwari Rashid and Abid have been arrested in connection with the case. The investigation into the Land and Revenue officials also included top officers named in the FIR to highlight the gravity of the allegations. The FIR also nominated the Member Estate and Director Land CDA as accused.
Sources said the FIA had finalized and sealed the case with a formal complaint. Along with filing the FIR, the FIA would produce the accused in court. Arrests of other accused were not possible due to their bail.
CDA Chairman Retired Captain Anwar ul Haq had recently expressed concerns to the FIA and asked them to expedite the investigation. The Chairman had sought return of CDA’s records in his letter and acknowledged the difficulties faced by the allottees. The FIA responded highlighting their resolve to carry out the investigation as per prescribed procedure but records could not be returned.
The case had come to light in October and CDA Chairman had ordered the FIA to launch a comprehensive probe. The Land Department had handed over around 1,500 files for scrutiny to FIA, which has been actively investigating the case for the last three months.
